My dad told me stories about his grandma. (Granny Hastings? - Ellen Adams?) She was crippled in a train crash and was in a cane wheel chair for many years. She lived with Elizabeth & family. (Elizabeth's sister, Emily?? also lived with them). Dad, and, I presume, the other brothers, would push her in the chair down the road. Dad said she gave him money to buy beers for her.
Dad  told the story about the  undertakers who  came to their house (Grandma lived with them) and he heard them say "We will have to break them", meaning her legs, to put her into the coffin." Dad seemed quite fond of her.
